Miss Pettit : Phase Leader EYFS / Year 1 Teacher

Miss Pettit

Phase Leader EYFS / Year 1 Teacher

I have been at Webheath since 2020, but have been teaching for many more years than I can remember, in both small and large settings. I really enjoy learning in the outdoors and going down to the forest. I enjoy inspiring children to read following my own love of reading. I love animals and can often be found visiting animals at the weekend. My favourite animal is a penguin. Reception is such a great year, and I look forward to meeting each new cohort and learning in fun and exciting ways.

Phase Leader KS1 / Year 1 Teacher

Within my teaching career I have taught across both Key Stage 1 and 2, and have taught at Webheath since 2023. From the age of eight, I knew I was destined to become a teacher; passionate in making every child’s school journey a happy and successful experience. I enjoy teaching the whole curriculum, but particularly, I love to read, put my maths skills into practice and be creative within art. Outside of school, I continue to show my creativity by baking and decorating cakes.

I have been in childcare for over 14 years and have been part of the team at Webheath since 2021. I love having the role of teaching assistant and being able to make a difference in children's learning. I have 3 children, and we love to be outdoors or visiting new places on the weekends.

In addition, you can access their weekly Oxford Owl ebook online which matches their phonetic ability to celebrate their reading practise throughout the course of the week in ‘Book Club’.

We follow a Mastery approach and White Rose maths as a basis for our teaching.  We use manipulatives to explore the world of maths around us and to help us understand and reason.  We continue to use ten frames introduced in Reception and learn to count in multiples of two’s, fives and tens.
